EFISes received on 21.11.2024 (Ebay)

This week I bought two CPFlight EFISes on Ebay, they arrived today. I figured buying ready made ones would save me a lot of time building them if I could also get my hands on a CPFlight MCP (mission unaccomplished as of yet).

The EFISes are alike, one can designate the side (captain vs F/O) with a jumper on the back. The units are supposed to be daisy chained from an MCP and can be used with most sims. The metal housing feels solid, the rotating buttons are made of die-cast metal and have a nice feel to it. All of them have grub screws to attach to their respective shafts.

I’m still on the lookout for a 747 CPFlight MCP, but chances are slim that I’ll find one. In the meantime I’ll start working on a custom PCB design, so I can gut the EFISes and replace the PCB with one of my own. That will be a first attempt at KiCad and PCB design, so we’ll see how that goes.

Other people do it too, so I don’t see why I wouldn’t be able to 😎 ✈️
